Finally I have a bit of free time for a new blog post so let’s talk about monetizing Twitter. There are a lot of possibilities through which you can earn some extra cash using Twitter (TweetAds if you like) but this is a controversial subject because this whole thing splits in 2 main categories: those one who would like these kind of 3rd party sites and those who not. In any case, advertisement on Twitter is inevitable. I personally found an interesting website through which everyone could easily earn some extra cash only by tweeting their fav links (as usual). Following I will present in major lines the websites/service called TweetBucks.

How do I get paid?

Tweetbucks pays you monthly via Paypal when you account balance reaches $25.

How much can I make?

You keep 70% of all commissions earned through product sales. The Ad-Frame currently pays approxmiately $0.5-$1 eCPM

Where can I use my shortned URL’s?

Currently our terms of service require a TweetBucks user to share shortened links on Twitter, Facebook and FriendFeed only. We will be working with merchants to extend our coverage to other social platforms in the future.

Should I disclose I’m using Tweet-Bucks?

Absolutely. You should tell your followers that you are using Tweetbucks to automate the process of monetizing your links.

Can I use TweetBucks from TweetDeck, Seesmic or other client?

You can certainly paste in a shortened URL. However at this time we are not integrated within those clients.

Can I paste this link anywhere?

Currently no, you must limit where you post shortened URL’s to Twitter.

Ok, now you are probably asking yourself how the ads appear? It’s simple … the Ads will be shown on an individual frame on each website (link) you shorten via TweetBucks. The ads can be closed easily and are not annoying at all :) . Here is a screenshot of how ads are displayed.

Second though would be “How much can I earn?” … Well I made a small test too just for my readers to be informed at max. Let’s see the stats, shall we? Just right before I started to write this article I have tweeted about 9 tweets using TweetBucks. So in about 10-15 minutes I have personally made $0.1570  I know it’s not much but for testing purpose it’s just perfect. My followers are around 500 in number so this counts too of course. About clicks on the links TweetBucks offers us a slick and simple report system too.

Finally here are some related sites through which you can earn some extra cash via Twitter.

  • Tweexchange is a Twitter username aftermarket with live search. It allows you to sell your Twitter user id to prospective buyers.
  • twtAd is a system that enables you to monetize your tweets. Based on a similar concept to Be-a-Magpie, twtAd pays you a few cents for every click to the URL from the link posted on your Twitter page.
  • TwitPub -  is a marketplace made for Twitter so users can buy and sell premium tweets.
  • Ol.am is a Short URL service with a twist. You can earn money by providing short URLs!! How? Whenever someone clicks on a Ol.am Short URL, it shows you an advertisement before redirecting you to the page; and you earn money every time that happens.
  • adCause connects Twitter users with businesses looking to advertise. Twitter users become publishers, and can then make money by displaying relevant ads in their twitter feed. Businesses use the publisher’s twitter feed to advertise their product or service to a target audience.
  • Be a Magpie is an ad network for Twitter. Advertisers sign up and create campaigns which consist of magpie-tweets (i.e. ads). Twitterers allow Magpie to post magpie tweets among their tweets and for them to get paid for it.
  • TwittAd was formed to give Twitter users and advertisers the opportunity to meet for product placement & website promotion on a Twitter user profile. TwittAd gives advertisers templates and ideas to help keep the integrity of Twitter background images.
